On June 23rd, 1992 the Weekly World News released what would become one of its most famous issues to date. The headline read simply, "Bat Child Found in Cave". Although only two pages were dedicated to the discovery, the world was taken by this boyish bat like creature and over the next 15 years he would appear in 97 issues of the publication, which chronicled his adventures. From being a prisoner of the U.S. Government to assisting in the capture of Saddam Hussein (for which he earned a bronze star) to claiming marriage to Britney Spears, Bat Boy's legacy burns on.


In the early morning of May, 18th 1980, Mount St. Helen's, located in Skamania County, Washington erupted and in the following days would become the most destructive volcanic event in the history of the United States. But there may have been more than volcanic ash and lava that was released from this still active volcano. Many claim that in the hours that followed the eruption a bat-like creature was could be seen flying nearby.
Fourteen years later Washington native Brian Canfield would encounter first hand the beast that would be known as Batsquatch...
